Hi, is there a plan to apply for getting listed on the CNCF project landscape in the future?
(CNCF Landscape)
Hi @fabianbusch, welcome to the community and to OpenZiti!
We have looked at and evaluated getting into the CNCF in the past, like three ish years ago, but at that time it didn't feel quite right. We haven't reevaluated what it entails lately, to my knowledge.
Other than CNCF being a fantastic org for open source software, is there a reason behind the ask, or are you just wondering?
Thanks for starting the discussion and checking out OpenZiti, cheers.
Thanks for the fast reply, I was just wondering while I was looking there for "competitors" in the feature-set & field which ziti addresses - But honestly didn't found anything comparable, yet.
I thought it would be helpful in the future, to get attention for new adopters who focus on that list.
Cool. If you're interested, there's a pretty good/comprehensive site out there that enumates loads of options in this space. Most of them are "VPN" or "VPN-like". There are few that are truly zero trust overlay networks (and many that claim to be). Anyway, here's the list that we generally share on places like reddit/hacker news when people are looking for alternatives GitHub - anderspitman/awesome-tunneling: List of ngrok/Cloudflare Tunnel alternatives and other tunneling software and services. Focus on self-hosting.
CNCF is great, and we might decide to join someday. If memory serves, NetFoundry is a member, but OpenZiti isn't added there just yet.
Cheers
