Are there any simple ways of explaining the difference?
AppVPN is not a term I am personally familiar with. AppWAN is a “NetFoundry” term which the NaaS uses. It’s very analogous to an OpenZiti “service-policy” but it’s more complex. An AppWAN will merge various OpenZiti objects in an effort to simplify the presentation for the user.
AppWAN questions are probably better over in the NetFoundry Community
