OpenZiti v1.8 release question

Hi,

first of all, thank you team for the feature rich v1.8 release.

I noticed that the last pre-release (v1.8.0-pre5) is more than 2 months ago. Will there be a stable release for v1.8? If not, is it ok to use the pre5 for production?

Thanks.

I think the next release will be version 2.0. From what I have seen on GitHub, they have been working hard over the last few weeks to get it ready.

Thanks @timnis, yes this is the correct answer. The next release will be 2.0. There's a 2.0-pre5 out there at the moment that is the latest candidate but pre6 is coming very, very soon (today?)

@kypt, welcome to the community and to OpenZiti!

Thanks @timnis and @TheLumberjack .

Just wondering, is there a roadmap or target release date for v2.0?

We're down to one issue: GitHub Milestone for 2.0.0. Once that is merged, we'll have a (hopefully) final -pre release, a week or so of soak time in internal systems and final runs of validation tests and then a release.

cheers,
Paul

Thank you for your message! All issues for version 2.0 are now closed. Can I expect the official version to be released in about two weeks?

We're definitely closing in, but I'm hesitant to be too optimistic on any particular timeline. We're continuing to test (soak testing, upgrade testing, testing various sdks against 2.0) and are still turning up the occasional bugs that need to be fixed. I'm pretty keen to get the release out, so I'm hopeful it'll be soon.

Cheers,
Paul
