Slowness using zrok

Moments ago (17:50 Eastern Time) we were seeing very slow responses when using zrok.

For example,

time curl 'https://tidalforce.share.zrok.io/multi_search?x-typesense-api-key=GGvyHonOH3SQBNNhkyCLr6XnuXFJNHIw'   -H 'accept: application/json, text/plain, */*'   -H 'accept-language: en-US,en;q=0.9,it-IT;q=0.8,it;q=0.7'   -H 'cache-control: no-cache'   -H 'content-type: text/plain'   -H 'dnt: 1'   -H 'origin: https://prop.tidalforce.org'   -H 'pragma: no-cache'   -H 'priority: u=1, i'   -H 'referer: https://prop.tidalforce.org/'   -H 'sec-ch-ua: "Chromium";v="130", "Google Chrome";v="130", "Not?A_Brand";v="99"'   -H 'sec-ch-ua-mobile: ?0'   -H 'sec-ch-ua-platform: "Linux"'   -H 'sec-fetch-dest: empty'   -H 'sec-fetch-mode: cors'   -H 'sec-fetch-site: cross-site'   -H 'user-agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/130.0.0.0 Safari/537.36'   --data-raw '{"searches":[{"query_by":"filter,snippet,loc,lastmod,source","highlight_full_fields":"filter,snippet,loc,lastmod,source","collection":"rentals","q":"*","facet_by":"priceINT,beds,baths,source,lastmodINT","filter_by":"priceINT:[1000..6000] && lastmodINT:>1728772894 && lastmodINT:=[1728772894..1731364894]","max_facet_values":10,"page":1,"per_page":10},{"query_by":"filter,snippet,loc,lastmod,source","highlight_full_fields":"filter,snippet,loc,lastmod,source","collection":"rentals","q":"*","facet_by":"lastmodINT","filter_by":"priceINT:[1000..6000] && lastmodINT:>1728772894","max_facet_values":10,"page":1}]}'

would return in

around 30 seconds

but the localhost version returned in 0.08 sec

I did not make any changes and eventually the zrok version returned back to the normal 0.40 sec response.

I checked the status page and did not see any issues.

Can someone tell me what caused this? Or maybe give some clues to understand it if it happens again.

Thanks,
Ralph

Hi @fedex1,

I don't have great visibility into this myself, but I'll ask around the team and see if anyone has any thoughts or insights and we'll try to get back to you here in a bit. Cheers

@TheLumberjack thanks so much. It may have something to do with my ISP and things like that but I don't even know how to test it.

If you're asking, please see if they have suggestions on how to test and isolate the issue.

Thanks
Ralph

Hey @fedex1 , we had a significant surge of traffic come in during the window of time that you're describing. We're still looking into the root cause of this. The window of impact was from 15:35-17:50 Eastern time. This issue was localized to users in us-east.

Hi @mguthrie88 Thanks for confirming and that's a relief that I was not imagining things! Please do post or contact me if there are things we can help with or monitor for.
